Math 214: Foundations of Higher Mathematics, Spring 2013

Instructor: Chi-Kwong Li

Course description: The goal of the course is to equip students with the mathematical background to study advanced courses, which require abstract thinking and to understand and write proofs for mathematical statements.
The course will cover the first 12 chapters (Chapter 0 - 11, yes, starts from 0!) of the following required textbook.

Homework will be assigned every lecture and due the following Wednesday (noon).
Homework sessions will be conducted on Tuesday, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Jones 131.
You will learn how to use LaTex to typset mathematical document, an excellent skill to acquire. You may get the programs for free.

Challenging problems will be assigned from time to time;
extra-credits will be given to successful (or partially successful) attempts.
